Binghamton Downtown Singers Spring Concert 2016

Saturday, June 4, 2016
7:00 pm9:00 pm
Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial Church, 308 Main Street, Johnson City

PEACE is the timely theme of this year's spring concert by the Binghamton Downtown Singers & Orchestra. Dona Nobis Pacem, Vaughn Williams' classic choral work about the hope for peace, sets the stage for a new work (world premiere: 2012) by Sir Karl Jenkins. This will be the first performance of The Peacemakers in the Southern Tier. With full orchestra, soloists Stacey Geyer and Timothy LeFebvre and the Parlor City Boys' Chorus in their first ever performance with the Downtown Singers, all under the baton of Downtown Singers Artistic Director Marisa Crabb, this concert of PEACE is offered as a spiritual balm and musical retreat from the daily news barrage of strife and conflict.

Funding is provided in part by a project grant from Broome County Arts Council's "United Cultural Fund" and public funds administered by Chenango Arts Council's Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the NYS Council on the Arts, with support from Governor Cuomo and the NYS Legislature. Additional support for Broome County provided by the Stewart W. & Willma C. Hoyt Foundation.
